On January 06, 2022, the team of IULI together with team from Institut Teknologi Indonesia (ITI) and their respective Foundations were granted the opportunity to have an audience with the newly appointed Head of BRIN (Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional) Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, M.Sc. in his office at the BPPT Building II, Jl. M.H. Thamrin No. 8, Central Jakarta.
The meeting was attended by the members of IULI Foundation (Yayasan IULI) and the YPTI (Yayasan Pengembangan Teknologi Indonesia), and also from the rectorates of both IULI and ITI. From IULI side the event was attended by Dr.-Ing. Ilham A. Habibie, MBA who led the two delegates, with Ir. Faizal Safa, S.T., M.Sc. IPU, dan Dr. Tutun Nugraha, while from ITI side there were Dr. Ir. Marzan Aziz Iskandar, IPU; Dr. Ir Mas Wigrantoro Roes Setiyadi, IPU, Ir. Indracahya Kusumasubrata, ST., IPU., ASEAN Eng.
During the warm discussion, Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, M.Sc. was accompanied by two of his Deputies, and extending his best wishes to his guests who are working in the field tridharma universitas ie. (i) higher education, (ii) research and (iii) Community Development. Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, MSc. also explained that BRIN will always be happy to work hand in hand with universities to strengthen the research and innovation capacities of Indonesia, as well as to help educate and train young generation of Indonesia to prepare them for their bright future, and be ready to face global competition. In his institutions, the massive potential of strengths for research & innovation, both in terms of man power and facilities, can be utilized to support higher educational institutions. On the other hand, universities with their partners in the academia, as well as in the manufacturing industries, nationally and abroad, can join forces to build stronger and more innovative industries and more robust manufacturing capacities of Indonesia.
The close proximity of IULI campus and ITI campus to PUSPIPTEK area, which harbors one of the most advanced and complex research facilities in Indonesia under BRIN, should become an advantage to begin active cooperation between BRIN and the two campuses. During further discussion, Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, MSc. also gave many suggestions on how both IULI and ITI campus can further develop their laboratory facilities for the benefit of their students and member of academia, as well as to foster closer cooperation with his institutions that will eventually benefit Indonesia.
