National Movement for Digital Literacy in Indonesia

On Monday, 14 June 2021, our Business and Social Science lecturer, Dr. (cand) Irma M Nawangwulan, MBA, CPM (Asia), was invited as a speaker by the Ministry of Communication and Information for the National Movement for Digital Literacy online event of the West Bandung Region, for Indonesia. This event had more then 60 participants.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has had a great impact for everyone around the world. Other than health and economical issues, people also had to cope and adapt with the changes in business and communication through the use of technology. Since almost all our social and work conduct had to be digitalized, it is crucial for us to be aware of digital literacy.

Digital literacy means acquiring the skills needed to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and access to information is increasingly done through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media, and mobile devices.

Pandemic or not, we need to adapt and be prepared for digitalization. In this event, four pillars of digital literacy were discussed: Digital Skills, Digital Ethics, Using Good Language in the Digital World and Digital Safety. At the end of the event a social media influencer also shared her experience with the new digital world.

Dr. (cand) Irma M Nawangwulan, MBA, CPM (Asia) presented the first pillar: Digital Skills. In her presentation she discussed the skills we need to have when we enter a digital market place. She illustrated her topic through E-commerce and also online shops. The audience was able to learn great tips on how to make your online business successful by developing digital skills.
